Ageless Pursuits: The Summer Lectures

June 6-10, 11am-12noon

This popular series offered by UBC Continuing Studies presents four individual weeks of stimulating lectures, lively discussion and shared enquiry. Participants select two morning courses from four options each week, and sign up for one week or more. 

The courses take place each morning, Monday to Friday, from 9:30-10:30am and from 11am-12 noon. 

Week Two of Ageless Pursuits this year features I Love Lieder – And So Will You!  Lieder – also known as art song – is a form that fuses great poetry and classical music. Art Song is a powerful shared experience. With a bit of practice, the songs become diaries revealing the composers’ interior lives.

Join Rena Sharon, Professor of Collaborative Piano Studies at UBC and the founding Artistic Director of the International Song Institute, along with internationally-renowned artists from the VISI for a guided tour of lieder and discover a largely unknown realm of beauty. June 6-10, 11am-12noon.
